Stock Corrugated Pad

Corrugated pads are flat sheets of corrugated board used to protect products during storage and shipping. They are commonly placed between items as dividers, used as top or bottom layers on pallets, or added to cartons for extra protection and support.

Lightweight yet durable, corrugated pads help prevent product damage, improve load stability, and keep shipments organized throughout handling and transit.

Corrugated Board Strength Comparison

32 ECT and 200# Test board provide similar strength for standard corrugated pads, with 32 ECT measuring stacking strength and 200# Test measuring resistance to puncturing or bursting.

32 ECT

  • Measures Edge Crush Test, which indicates how much vertical compression a box or sheet can handle.

  • Focuses on stacking strength and performance in palletized loads.

  • Most modern corrugated packaging is rated using ECT.

200# Test (200T)

  • Measures Mullen Burst Test, which indicates how much pressure the board can take before puncturing or bursting.

  • Historically used for shipping cartons where impact resistance was important.

In most cases, 32 ECT and 200# Test are considered roughly equivalent board grades for standard single-wall corrugated.

Pads made from either grade will typically provide:

  • Good product separation

  • Surface protection

  • layer support in palletized shipments

Most manufacturers today produce 32 ECT board for pads, since stacking performance is usually the main goal.
